LOCUM TENENS

Locum tenens is an option for physicians and allied health professionals that may be at a crossroads in their career or life in which it gives them an opportunity to go somewhere to practice in their field for a short period of time. If a physician is planning on moving, they can take this opportunity to check out a particular location before making a decision as to where to settle.

Physicians working as locum tenens can expect to make as much as 40 to 50 percent more per hour than other physicians. They have the opportunity to choose where they work and the flexibility to work as much or as little as they prefer.

BENEFITS

Physicians and providers are paid by Regional Consulting. The salary is usually about 40 to 50 percent more than local physicians.

Physicians don’t have many out of pocket expenses, since we typically arrange and pay for their travel and lodging. The facility in which they are employed then reimburses us for those costs.

Regional Consulting can provide professional liability insurance through Evanston Insurance, or you may use your own policy.

QUALIFICATIONS

It’s easy to qualify. Simply call and talk to one of our Senior Consultants to register with our service. To expedite the registration process, please provide us with the following documentations:

Curriculum Vitae
State licenses
Medical School Diploma and all Post Graduate Training Certificates OR Graduate Training Certificate or Degree
DEA Certificate (if applicable)
ECFMG Certificate (if applicable)
Controlled Substance Certificates (if applicable)
Copies of current CME's (if applicable)
Copies of BLS and ACLS cards (if applicable)
Letters of Reference

PROCESS

Once you have registered for our service, one of our Senior Consultants will begin sending you assignments that match your qualifications and desires. Since you are an independent contractor, you are not required to accept all of the assignments and you may choose how much and how often you want to work. The assignment might last from a few days to a few months or even a year. You should have some idea of the projected length of the assignment when you begin. For physicians and CRNAs that are currently employed full time, we can arrange for one week or two week assignments as needed.
